California District 42’s semi-finals are set, and its combatants will be the “three-headed Chula Vista/Bonita monster” and the “three-headed monster slayer”.

As this Little League writer coined in Let The CA District 42 Battles Begin!!, the “three-headed Chula Vista/Bonita monster” consists of Chula Vista’s Eastlake and Park View Little Leagues, and their neighboring Sweetwater Valley Little League in Bonita. Each of those three perennial powerhouses advanced from among the eight District 42 tournament entrants to the semi-finals. Chula Vista American Little League of Chula Vista captured the final spot.

After reading my article, a number of fans of Chula Vista American started referring to their team as the “three-headed monster slayer.” I love it! Great nickname, and I dig that my stories are so widely read, and that people actually pay attention to what I write. I love covering Little League!

I wrote all kinds of crazy stuff about the Anaheim Ducks throughout the entire NHL season, and I doubt anyone ever borrowed my terms: “Chimera Watch”, “Marcus-O-Meter”, or “Old Man Beauch”. I am only into the start of July, and already my Little League stories are being quoted. I am so digging that. I get to write about Little League. I have the best job in the whole wide world. I even got to arrive late to a game with a crowd the size of a rock concert, but yet, still sat in the best seat in the ballpark right behind home plate in the taped off section for reporters and district officials. It does not get any better than that.

But, wait. It does. On Tuesday, Little League approved me to cover its World Series at Howard J. Lamade Stadium in S. Williamsport, PA. How awesome is that? If a Southern California team plays in the LLWS, and I raise the funds to tag along and cover the SoCal team’s games, this will be the greatest summer ever. So, folks, please start up a GoFundMe for Rabbi Rabbs to cover SoCal’s team in Williamsport.

Getting back on topic, District 42’s semis will be held on Thursday at 5:30 pm PDT. At Sweetwater Valley’s ball park, Park View will tangle with the monster slayer, and the winner will advance to the district finals on Saturday. The loser will play on Friday against the winner of Thursday’s contest at Eastlake’s home field between two heads of the monster: Eastlake and Sweetwater Valley. Those two titans will clash in a battle to the death, as the loser will be eliminated from this summer’s tournament. Until then, stay tuned !!
