3 Clippers Make Team USA Preliminary Roster
- Updated: January 20, 2016
Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan were all named in Team USA’s 30-man squad for the 2016 Olympics.
The team was named prior to the Los Angeles Clippers overtime win against Houston and will be cut down to the final 12 later in the year.
As Jordan returned to the court after missing the previous two games due to illness, he will be seeking to reach his first Team USA squad for the London Olympics.
Blake Griffin, who is currently out due to injury, will be looking to make the Olympic team for a second time, despite having to withdraw from the 2012 squad due to injury while Chris Paul will seek to become only the fourth player (LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and David Robinson) to represent to United States at three separate Olympic Games.
Paul will be up against Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Kyrie Irving and Mike Conley for a roster spot, however if his play of late is anything to go by, you would expect to see the feisty point guard don the red, white and blue for a third Olympic Games.
All three Clippers were part of the mini camp in 2015.
Along with the Clippers, the Cavaliers have three players representing Cleveland while Golden State has the most with five.
