Time for all prognosticators to look upon the horizon of the National Hockey League and give their picks for the season.
And for my predictions, after careful review of the league in general and the Pacific Division specifically, I can categorically confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that … I have no freakin’ clue.
I attended the last preseason game of the Los Angeles Kings and watched a number of the preseason games. Since power-packed Kings teams didn’t even make the playoffs, and since a rag-tag team that backed into the playoffs in 2012 ended up hoisting the Stanley Cup, it appears anything is possible.
Because of this, I will rest on the steady consistency of my divining tool to determine the final standings of the Pacific Division as well as the Stanley Cup champion for this upcoming season. Yes, that’s right, my Tarot Deck.
Here we go in order of first to last.

1st – Edmonton Oilers – The Sun – This is the team with tons of success, and such a bright future. First place. Plus, hey, don’t they have that Connor McDavid guy?

2nd – San Jose Sharks – 6 of Wands – Successful, homecoming, maybe great home record. Triumph! Damn, I don’t want them to triumph. Can’t stand that team.
3rd – Vancouver Canucks – King of Swords – Feels like this team has its stuff together. Mentally strong. Will land high in this strong division. Playoffs for sure. Strong leadership.
4th – Los Angeles Kings – Page of Cups– Season looks good. Good news. A fresh outlook really helps. Playoff bound!
5th – Calgary Flames – The Emperor – Strong and steady team. Authority figures, possibly older players will help guide the team. Wait, do they have older players?
6th – Arizona Coyotes – 8 of Pentacles – Lots of hard work and focus pulls the team higher up in the standings but barely.
7th – Vegas Golden Knights – 7 of Pentacles– Lots of standing around waiting for someone to take charge. Who is the leader here? Setbacks make this new team fall pretty low. Even if they have Brayden McNabb.
8th – Anaheim Ducks – 10 of Swords– Lots of backstabbing on the team. Locker room and front office turmoil takes the team down, way down. Failure city. Last place, yup! Would the cards lie?
The World Card went to the Dallas Stars, which I interpret as that team winning the Stanley Cup. It could happen. Just like anything else.
