Before this, only 3 teams in NHL history have ever successfully pulled off a playoff series comeback of 4-3 after being down 3-0. Considering the NHL was formed in 1917, it is safe to say that this basically NEVER happens. The Kings were blown out 6-3 and 7-2 by the San Jose Sharks in the first 2 games of the playoffs and then lost 4-3 in overtime in a tightly played game 3. In the post game press conference, Kings Head Coach Daryl Sutter (his press conferences would become legendary after this), made it clear that despite being down 3-0, the Kings were not going out quietly. This became prophetic as the Kings made history and made the unprecedented comeback by dominating the next 4 games to eliminate the Sharks in game 7 (which was played in San Jose). The Kings showed the world, and those who had their doubts about them, that they were a team to never be taken lightly, even if the Kings were behind by a large margin in a game and/or a playoff series. No matter how impossible the obstacle in front of them seemed or what the odds were against them, these Kings would never quit and would fight with everything they had to the very bitter end, simply for each other. The Kings were a monster that refused to die.
