The Ottawa Senators blanked the Los Angeles Kings tonight 1-0. The loss snapped the Kings eight game winning streak. While the Kings were coming off a win against the Red Wings on Tuesday night, they hoped that they could push the streak to nine.
Tonight was a hard-fought game with a lot of controversy. What appeared to be a Justin Williams goal was waved dead by the officials.
The Kings outshot the Senators 35-28, and Andrew Hammond was simply brilliant. He recorded a shutout and 35 saves in the win.
Jonathan Quick made 27 saves but it wasn’t enough for the victory. Mike Hoffman scored a wrist shot goal in the early third period that would be a enough to give the Senators a win. The goal was assisted by Mike Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan.
Although the streak is over the Kings do not have much time to dwell on the loss. They will take on the rival Anaheim Ducks tomorrow on the road.
