Nashville Use Big Second Period To Beat Kings

The Nashville Predators used a big second period to beat the LA Kings 5-2 on Monday night. With the Kings already clinching a playoff birth this game meant more to Nashville than LA.

James Neal got the offense started in the second period with a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Ryan Johansen. A few minutes passed and Mike Fisher scored a wrist shot goal of his own. His goal was assisted by Neal and Johansen.

A minute later Filip Forsberg scored a backhanded shot to push the lead to 3-0. Craig Smith and Roman Josi were credited with the assists and the Kings were in the hole entering in the third period.

32 seconds into the third period Tanner Pearson scored a tip-in shot that put the Kings on the board. His goal was assisted by Drew Doughty and Rob Scuderi.

Later in the period Alec Martinez scored a snap shot goal. Pearson and Anze Kopitar were credited with the goal and the Kings were back in it down 3-2.

Ryan Johansen scored a tip-in shot that put the Predators up 4-2. His goal was assisted by Shea Weber and Calle Jarnkrok. Josi scored an empty net goal and the game was over at 5-2.

Los Angeles will have to rebound quickly and will take on the Minnesota Wild tonight on NBCS.
