The Los Angeles Lakers took on the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis tonight and fell 107-102.
While the Lakers were coming off their first win of the season, the Grizzlies were ready to stop the one game win streak. Click here to read the recap of the Lakers first win of the year.
I know how much everyone cares about Kobe’s shot attempts, and tonight in the fourth quarter, Bryant broke the NBA record for most missed field goal attempts in a career.
Speaking of Kobe Bryant, he put together a nice game. Bryant scored 28 points, grabbed 7 boards, dished out 6 assists, and had 4 steals in the loss.
Carlos Boozer had his best game as a Laker before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Boozer scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the squad.
Wesley Johnson came to play tonight. After struggling earlier this season he scored 15 points while hitting 3, three pointers tonight. Jordan Hill was a monster on the glass. He collected a double-double as he scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. All 5 Lakers starters reached double figures.
On the other hand, the Memphis Grizzlies were coming off their first loss of the season to the Milwaukee Bucks. Tonight, 6 different players reached double figures for the Grizz.
Beno Udrih and Kosta Koufos were excellent off the bench. Udrih went 8-11 from the floor, scoring 16 points, while Koufos went 5-5 and scored 14. Mike Conley had a big game. The Ohio State product scored 23 points and had 3 steals.
Zach Randolph had a double-double, and Marc Gasol nearly had a triple-double. Gasol scored 8 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 9 assists.
The Lakers losing by 5 points tonight is ironic because in the middle of third quarter they gave up a 5 point play. After a Mike Conley kicked his leg out on a three-point attempt and received the foul call, Byron Scott let the refs have it. Scott was awarded a technical, thus giving the Grizzlies the rare 5 point play.
The Lakers will be back at tomorrow night as they take on the New Orleans Pelicans in New Orleans at 5:00 p.m.
