The Los Angeles Lakers failed to beat the Portland Trail Blazers tonight, with the game ending 98-94.

It was the first meeting between the two teams but ultimately the Lakers struggled as they were short-handed against the white-hot Damian Lillard.

Lillard finished the game with 39 points and led the Blazers in scoring. He has now scored at least 39 points in three of his previous nine games. LaMarcus Aldridge added 21 points, and Meyers Leonard had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant did not travel for today’s game so his help was not available on the court. Jordan Hill stepped up for the team and brought home 23 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists. Five of the Lakers players were able to get into the double-digit zone in scoring, including Linsanity himself, who had 14.

The Trail Blazers ran away with the game in the fourth, but interestingly enough the Lakers reserves outscored Portland’s 41-17. And it still wasn’t enough.

Another injury plagued the Lakers tonight after Ronnie Price took an elbow to the face from Portland’s Robinson, and had to receive 11 stitches. He did not return to the game but he was able to score 11 points and 8 assists before leaving.
