Lakers Fall In Double OT To Rockets 148-142

The Los Angeles Lakers closed out the year with a gutsy performance but came just short in a 148-142 loss to the Houston Rockets. Los Angeles has now lost six in a row and sit at the bottom of the Pacific Divison standings.

Los Angeles was without starting point guard Lonzo Ball as well as Kentavous Caldwell-Pope due to injury and jail sentence. Head coach Luke Walton started Tyler Ennis and Josh Hart in the backcourt.

Julius Randle also started for the Lakers. He had a wonderful game turning in 29 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists on 13/19 shooting before fouling out.

Kyle Kuzma scored 23 points, and Tyler Ennis recorded a double-double. Ennis had 20 points and 11 assists while Brandon Ingram chipped in 12 points.  Hart had 26 points and 6 rebounds on 9/13 shooting before fouling out.

On the other side, the league-leading scorer had another excellent performance. James Harden had 40 points and 11 assists before leaving the game late in the fourth quarter due to a hamstring issue.

Chris Paul had 28 points and 10 assists while Trevor Ariza chipped in 26 points. Eric Gordon and Gerald Green reached double figures off the bench with 14 and 10 points respectively.

Los Angeles held a lead most of the game but the Rockets three point shooting was too much for the Laker defense to overcome. Houston hit 18 threes on the night including some huge ones down the stretch.

Los Angeles will continue their road trip in Minnesota tonight when they take on Jimmy Butler and Timberwolves.
