Kobe Bryant Shows Sparks Of Pre-Injuries Black Mamba

Although the Los Angeles Lakers lost in last nights preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, Lakers fans world-wide got excited about the prospect of Kobe Bryant this season.

Bryant led the Lakers with 27 points, 8 of which he scored in the final two minutes of regulation. Jeremy Lin, who returned last night from an ankle injury, also scored 11 of his 15 points off the bench in the fourth quarter before he fouled out with just 11.5 seconds left of regulation.

Kobe Bryant didn’t make a basket until the clock hit 5 minutes left in the second quarter. He later got into his zone with three 20-foot jumpers, two of them fadeaways, in a 21-second span which gave the Lakers a 92-91 lead with 43.3 seconds left in the fourth. See him showing the world why he is still the Black Mamba below.

In the final minute of regulation, Isaiah Thomas made one of his two free throws, and Lakers forward Wesley Johnson missed both free throws at the other end. The Suns made the most of their final possession while Thomas rebounded Green’s missed 3-point shot and hit a 20-footer from the right baseline.

Jeremy Lin’s ankle seemed to hold up in last nights game. It was most evident in a six-minute stretch in the fourth quarter where he made a 21-footer, a pair of free throws, a 3-pointer and a driving layup to help the Lakers close-in within 86-84 with 5 minutes left.

What To Know From This Game (according to ESPN):

  • The Lakers are now 2-3 in the preseason.
  • Lakers had more 2 more points in the paint than Phoenix, but only had 11 fast-break points compared to the Suns’ 30.
  • Jordan Clarkson (calf strain), Ryan Kelly (sore right hamstring) and Nick Young (torn right thumb ligament) did not play.

The Lakers will host the Portland Trailblazers tonight and we can’t wait to see what Kobe brings to this game!
