Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant scored his 32,000th point against the Atlanta Hawks last night. He joins the elite club that only three other players in NBA history are a part of. The three other players include Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, Karl Malone, and Michael Jordan.

In Bryant’s 19th NBA season he has taken heavy criticism for shooting too much. The Lakers notched just their second win of the season, and Bryant shot very efficiently going 10/18 from the field.

Kobe Bryant was just 27 points away from the mark before entering tonight’s game and scored 28 in the win. Bryant talked about the accomplishment with ESPN.com:

Well, it means a lot,” Bryant said. “I can’t stress how much work it is just to be in this position, to be able to get out there and play. It’s a lot of work, man. And over 19 years, that’s really where I take enjoyment from it, is the process. It’s a lot of work over 19 years. It feels good to be able to have that accomplishment.”

Kobe Bryant is just 319 points away from passing Michael Jordan on the all time scoring list. Many people believe that Bryant has become obsessed with passing Jordan on the list. They have reason to believe so with Bryant leading the league in shot attempts by a long shot.

The Lakers will look to keep up the momentum as they travel to Houston to take on the Rockets tonight.
