The Los Angeles Kings didn’t look an ounce of tired coming off of a win last night and soared past the New York Rangers 4-2. In the midst of the most important hockey of the season the Kings came into tonight’s rematch of the last year’s Stanley Cup Final need to secure two more points. Last night the Kings beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1.

In a game that ended up with smiles did not start off so hot for the Kings. Mats Zuccarello scored a wrist goal that was assisted by J.T. Miller in the first minute of the game that had the fans at Madison Square on their feet. It was Robyn Regehr who responded for the Kings. He scored a wrist shot goal off a fortunate bounce that was assisted by Kyle Clifford.  That was all the scoring in the period as the period ended 1-1.

In the second is Marian Gaborik who put a slap shot through the net that was assisted by Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams and the Kings never looked back. Heading into the third and the game still in the balance Kings waited anxiously to see which Kings team would show in the third.

Jeff Carter and Dwight King connected on a beautiful play at the start of the third period. This game the Kings a 3-1 lead and then it was Jake Muzzin who put his name in the score sheet. He scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Kopitar and Trevor Lewis and just like that the Kings were up 4-1.

For Muzzin it was his eighth goal on the year which sets a new career high. Kevin Hayes scored a goal that was assisted by Dan Boyle but it was too little too late for the Rangers.

Jonathan Quick continued his strong play down the stretch. He made 33 saves tonight. For Cam Talbot his 31 saves were not enough to claim the victory.

For the Kings they will continue the road swing as they take on the New York Islanders on Thursday night.
