Dodgers Can’t Extend Winning Streak, Drop Series Finale To Marlins 5-4
- Updated: May 13, 2015
Joc Pederson and Enrique Hernandez both homered but Giancarlo Stanton‘s three RBI’s were the difference in the one run loss by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers were 15-2 at Dodger Stadium this season entering Wednesday, and looked for their sixth straight win but fell behind early against Miami giving up single runs in the third and fourth innings. The club was able to take the lead after putting up three runs in the bottom of the fifth, however their bullpen was unable to hold on to the advantage after Dodger starting pitcher Carlos Frias exited with one on and no outs in the seventh inning. Frias night ended with him giving up six hits, striking out five and only walking one. Adam Liberatore took his place in the seventh and gave up a couple of singles that loaded the bases for the eventual game winning two RBI single for Stanton. The Miami Marlins who have had trouble closing out games in the ninth inning, turned to A.J. Ramos who retired the side in order for his first save of the season.
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jarred Cosart was in line for the win before leaving the game with one out and one on in the sixth after injuring his hamstring. Sam Dyson came into the game to finish the inning and was credited with the win. Los Angeles Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly was ejected after arguing a call on a Miami Marlins replay challenge in the seventh inning.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will start a four game series Thursday at home against the Colorado Rockies. Brett Anderson will take the mound against his former club, in search for his third win of the season. Chad Bettis will oppose him, for his first start of the year after joining the Rockies on Wednesday. First pitch is at 7:10 PM PT.
