Chargers Beat Up the Browns, 38-14
- Updated: October 15, 2018
Despite the resurgence of the Browns franchise, the Los Angeles Chargers beat the Cleveland Browns in the Dawg Pound, 38-14.
Melvin Gordon rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns on for his best performance as a pro. Philip Rivers passed for 207 yards and two touchdown passes to Tyrell Williams. Williams turned in his best performance of the season with only three receptions, two of them for touchdowns.
Browns Quarterback Baker Mayfield played like a rookie against a brutal Chargers defense that sacked him five times and picked him off twice. Mayfield outdueled Rivers in the passing department 238-207 and connected with his Tight End David Njoku for the Browns only touchdown.
BOLT NOTES:
The Chargers defense completely shut down the Browns running game, not allowing any Browns running back to gain over 40 yards. Rookie kicker Mike Badgley connected on his only field goal from 44-yards and made all five extra points in his first game for the team.
NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:
The team is enjoying a modest three-game winning streak to improve to a 4-2 record. Los Angeles head to London for another tough opponent, the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee is coming off their worst loss of the season, a 21-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Chargers could gain a game in the AFC West standings as a result of the Sunday Night game between Kansas City and New England.
