Caps End Ducks Winning Streak

The Washington Capitals ended the Anaheim Ducks winning streak last night with a 2-1 victory in a shootout. Anaheim was on a 11 game winning streak before the loss last night.
Ryan Getzlaf got things started for Anaheim in the first period. Getzlaf scored his 10th goal of the year which was a slap shot goal. His goal was assisted by David Perron (23) and Simon Despres (3) and gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead.
After a second period of no goals the Caps scored early in the third period. Andre Burakovsky scored his 14th goal of the season with a wrist shot. His goal was assisted by Evgeny Kuznetsov (47) and Justin Williams (26).
Anaheim was unable to respond and the game went into overtime. After neither side was able to score in the overtime period the game was forced to go into a shootout.
T.J. Oshie scored a backhand goal. Corey Perry followed with a wrist shot goal. Nicklas Backstrom scored a wrist shot goal that gave the Caps the victory.
Braden Holtby made 27 saves for a 96% save percentage. John Gibson made 31 saves for a 97% save percentage.
Up next for Anaheim is Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night as they begin a quick two game road trip.
