Calhoun Leads Angels Past Twins

Kole Calhoun hit a homerun and added a double to lead the Los Angeles of Anaheim past the Minnesota Twins 5-4 on Tuesday night.
For Anaheim Jhoulys Chacin got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 4 runs. He struck out 2 and walked 1 as he picked up his third win of the year.
On the other side Ervin Santana got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 10 hits and 5 runs. He struck out 1 and allowed 2 home runs. He struggles this year continued as he picked up his 7th loss of the year.
The offense got started in the first inning when Albert Pujols hit a RBI single to center that brought Yunel Escobar and the Halos took a 1-0 advantage.
In the second inning John Centeno got the Twins on the board. He hit a RBI double that brought in Brian Dozier and the score was tied at 1-1.
In the bottom half of the inning Johnny Giavotella hit a two-run shot to left field that brought in Jefry Marte. This gave the Halos a 3-1 lead.
Trevor Plouffe hit a RBI single that brought in Robbie Grossman to cut the lead to 3-2. Calhoun hit a solo shot in the third inning. It was his 8th home run of the year and gave the Halos a 4-2 lead.
Joe Mauer hit a RBI triple in the 5th fifth inning to cut the lead to 4-3. Calhoun followed with a RBI double to right field that brought in Gregorio Petit and the Halos held a 5-3 advantage.
Byron Buxton hit a RBI double to left field in the 6th inning that brought in Max Kepler. That would be the last run of the game.
In the 9th inning Huston Street came on and shut the club down. He picked up his 7th save of the year. The Angels and Twins will continue their series tonight at 7:05 at the Big A!
