Blake Griffin scored 40 points tonight, but it was not enough to beat the league’s best Golden State Warriors. The Los Angeles Clippers entered tonight game on a seven game winning streak and looked to send a message with a big win.
For the Warriors they entered tonight on a nine game winning streak of their own. Griffin scored 40 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Tonight was his 6th career 40 point effort but was spoiled by the strong play and depth of the Warriors.
Chris Paul had 25 points and had 9 assists in the loss. J.J. Redick added 14 points but shot just 4/12 from the field. DeAndre Jordan scored 5 points and had 15 rebounds.
After a strong first half the Clippers had 7 turnovers in the fourth quarter. Klay Thompson led the way for the Warriors. Thompson had 25 points and 8 rebounds. Stephen Curry added 27 for the Splash Bros.
David Lee (17) and Marreese Speights (13) reached double figures for the Warriors as well.
The Clippers struggled from the 3 point line shooting just 6/22. They also ran out of gas in the fourth quarter due to a lack of depth on the bench. With Jamal Crawford still sidelined with injury the Clippers are lacking that offensive firepower off the bench.
Tonight’s loss drops the Clippers record to 49-26 on the year. They will take on the Portland TrialBlazers tomorrow night on the road.
