Although it sounds like an excessive deal for the president of baseball operations, Friedman has proved his worth. With the Tampa Bay Rays, he showed the MLB world just how valuable he is to a team, and his new deal reflects it.
Dodgers CEO Stan Kasten had this to say about Friedman:
“Andrew Friedman is one of the youngest and brightest minds in the game today and we are very fortunate to have him join our organization,” Kasten said in a statement. “The success he has had over the past nine years in molding the Tampa Bay Rays team has been incredible.”
The power move of landing Andrew Friedman to the organization sends shock waves around front offices around the league. To put into perspective the respect and stature Friedman has around the league Ramona Shelburne describes the situation in reference to the movie “Moneyball”.
