5 Kings Score, Beat Avs 5-2

Five different Los Angeles Kings’ scored as the defending champions beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2. The Kings were coming off of a tough loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime on Saturday night and looked to rebound tonight.With the defending champions fighting for playoff contention tonight’s game was of the utmost importance.

Marian Gaborik started the Kings off with the first goal of the game. He scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Dustin Brown and Brayden McNabb. A few minutes later Jeff Carter scored a wrist shot of his own that was assisted by Jordan Nolan and Trevor Lewis and gave the Kings the early 2-0 advantage.

Tyson Barrie put the Avs on the board when he scored a wrist shot goal. His goal was assisted by Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan O’Reilly. Less than two minutes later McNabb answered with a goal of his own that gave the Kings a 3-1 advantage. His goal was assisted by Kyle Clifford and Justin Williams. There was plenty of action in the first period with Jonathan Quick making numerous spectacular saves.

In the second period Clifford scored a goal of his own to push the lead to 4-1. Anze Kopitar and McNabb were credited with the assist. The Kings controlled the period as Clifford’s goal was the only one of the period.

The third and final period was started when Alex Tanguay scored a tip-in shot that was assisted by Marc-Andre Cliche and Dennis Everberg. Soon after the Avs cut the lead to 4-2, Jake Muzzin but a slap shot of his own through the net. Nick Shore and Williams were credited with the assist and the Kings came out with the 5-2 victory.

Jonathan Quick made save after save tonight and the Colorado commentators were blown away by his brilliance. Quick made 21 saves on the night.

Up next for the Kings they will take on Henrik Sedin and Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night.
