3rd Period Dooms Kings, Fall 2-1

The Los Angeles Kings couldn’t hold on to the lead and loss the Nashville Predators 2-1 on Saturday night. The Kings we’re coming off a solid victory against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night and returned home to the comfy confines of the Staples Center tonight.

Jeff Carter scored the opening goal of the game in the first period with a slap shot goal. His goal was assisted by Andrej Sekera and Drew Doughty. The Kings outshot the Predators 11-9 in the period and left the first period with the 1-0 advantage.

The second period was period with no goals as the Predators outshot the Kings 8-6. It was the third period where the action took place. Craig Smith scored a wrist shot goal to tie the game. Ryan Ellis and Seth Jones assisted on the goal.

A minute later Viktor Stalberg scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Roman Josi and Matt Cullen. This would serve to be the game winner that was deflected off of Jake Muzzin stick that won the game.

Jonathan Quick made 21 saves tonight, while Pekka Rinne made 23 saves. Tonight’s win for the Predators marks a season sweep for them. They beat the Kings all three times they played this season by one goal in each game.

The Kings will now try and regroup as they take on the Arizona Coyotes on Monday night at the Staples Center. The Kings lead the season series with them 2-1.
